Patrick Scannon is Chief Scientific and Medical Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors of XOMA Corporation. Prior to founding XOMA, Dr. Scannon was a clinical research scientist at the Letterman Army Institute of Research in San Francisco, and attained the rank of major in the Army Medical Corps. Since 1980, Dr. Scannon has directed the Xoma product identification, evaluation, and clinical testing programs. As Chief Scientific and Medical Officer, Dr. Scannon heads the research/development program at XOMA, which has made and evaluated several classes of biologic compounds including monoclonal antibodies, immunotoxins, recombinant immunofusions, recombinant proteins and peptides. He also heads the clinical research program at XOMA in evaluating the therapeutic potential of these biologics in human clinical studies for infectious, oncologic, and immunologic indications.

Dr. Scannon holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry and is board-certified in Internal Medicine. Dr. Scannon is inventor or co-inventor of more than 20 issued U.S. patents, and has published numerous scientific abstracts and papers. He has served or is serving on the boards of several companies and institutions. Relating to his long standing interest in biofense, Dr. Scannon also has been a member of the Defense Sciences Research Council affiliated with the Defense Advanced Research Development Agency since 1997. He also is on advisory committees for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
